The Jersey House |
|
The Jersey house is
open since 2001. An old country house located in a crop
area was restored in the farm belonging to Don Juan Olivera’s
family. The Olivera Farm started in the Escobar stream and
ended in the Lujan river.
The house was conceived following the outline for rural
construction in the Pampa. The plan was developed on a central
part and two side wings, the whole forming a "U"
towards the north.
The front and counter front walls set firmly on mud, are
55 cm. thick. The dividing avails are 35cm. thick, with
plastering. The front walls are made with baked brick with
no plastering.
The floor tiles are of national handicraft manufacture.
This typical country house of the beginning of the XXth
century was restored by the architect Gustavo Borlasca.
The style remained the same as the original as well as the
materials and the rooms distribution.
In these rooms we can find books, documents, deeds, pictures,
catalogues, art pieces, pedigrees, photographs, tools, and
souvenirs related with the Jersey breed, all of it compiled
for years of hard work and the collaboration of breeders
and breeders associations worldwide. The Jersey Island,
the United States, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Canada,
Denmark, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Uruguay
have sent material that our association proudly exhibits
to visitors.
Breeders’ annual meetings and Jersey special auctions
take place in this House.
Furthermore, it is opened upon previous arrangement with
the Jersey Breeders Association.
